When The Rain Doused The Fire

Two words to describe last saturday's (29/8) training: POTONG STIM!!!

It was a training that never came to be.

The mighty trees, the green grass, the fresh air... the pouring rain.

Okay, number one, change of venue to an outdoor basketball court. No problem! Still semangat! Everyone's still coming =D

So the girls' training started as usual with warm-ups, then progressed to passing, although Coach Jason had yet to come.

And guess what? There're PHOTOS!!! (oh gosh one photo takes more than 3 minutes to upload.)

Then came that fatal stroke, the last straw that broke the camel's back..

... the incessant drops of water from the sky pouring down mercilessly onto the battlefield, leaving the soldiers bereft of safe enough ground to run around.

In other words, rain until the floor wet wet then people fall down so not safe ma so ma cannot play lor so training ma cancel lor.

To make up for the lack of action, we have more photos!

(note that the floor's different)

Consequently, both the girls & juniors and the guys training were called off. Girls went home. The guys who were already there talked instead about.. a lot of things lah.

Conversation shots (shows you how awesome camera zoom can be):

And that was officially it.

Rain, rain, go away,
Come again another day,
Firebrands got training wei..

Another Powerful weekend

Training was as energetic as ever as we head towards a common goal; Division 1.
The never ending spirit of the firebrands to set off fire in this jungle of concrete bringing all walks of people to a common ground of a sport called floorball.

So each weak we have new people coming in although some don't stay but at least they get a feeling of what it's like to be in the hottest zone in Penang with the FIREBRANDS.

This week for juniors and the ladies we had the back to the basics which wasn't really the basic that was the the basic.. whatever that meant o.O Anyhow, the girls are also picking up the pace with lots of improvement individually and even more importantly as a team. Although there's still a lot of work to be done but the growth rate is amazing as our players continue to grow in numbers and in strength.

As for the guys.. well "what are we here for?" and the reply.. "DIVISION ONE!!!" or somesay to play floorball. OH well both are correct but our short term goal is DIVISION 1 and to do that it'll take more than just shouting it out and act on nothing right?
SO here we are week in and week out grinding our heels on the ground to sweat it all out so we can move together as a team forward into greater heights to achieve greaters things and best of all to be a testimony to those who just stand and see that we have put our hearts together and only because of together we are able to achieve something.

Not forgetting the special guest that we have inbetween sessions, Pastor Victor who came along to share the important things-to-know in fireBRANDS FC which is the structure in which we run in. fireBRANDS Floorball Club (FFC) comes under the Youth Ministry of FGA Centre which is the fireBRANDS youth ministry. So with that in mind, the boss of FFC which is Alex Low, comes under the supervision and decision of fireBRANDS youth ministry, which is of course led by Pastor Victor who is then in service of FGA Centre which is run by a group of grown men(too much details). So in the occasion of which comes first the first call would be fireBRANDS youth ministry whenever there might be a clash of programs between the two entities. But in a larger picture, if there happens to be a major tournament going on and the fireBRANDS youths are required to be there, the youth ministry would be given priority although with careful consideration in the most gracious decision, the leadership would approve of a major game although it is always to hold in a balance.

So there we go for the creed of FFC. Last but not least an applause to be given to our two leaders in the fireBRANDS Floorball Club.... we have for the junior and girls division, TANIA!!!! and for the guys.. our very own Gary!!!! So with that the fireBRANDS floorball club congratulates both leaders on their appointment.

The Long Awaited

Okay.

At long last, after 2 trainings, we meet again, Coach Jason. And he made his presence known right from the start with.. a new whistle and a new passion for whistles.

So, we shall call it the 'Girls and Junior' training. A big, hearty congratulations to Jesher for making it :) and also to Eunice Oh and Sakthiswari (her second time actually but well) for coming.

And to the rest of you regulars, thanks.

So, if you've ever been to any sorta training, or PJ even, you'd know that...

...training started with a WARM-UP.

Uhm, yeah, so maybe that's a li'l too detailed..

Anyways. A new drill was introduced today, which involved a weaponless floorballer guarding a stationary ball from being kicked football-style by another weaponless floorballer.

Next, the usual, snakes and the two-line run-pass-shoot drill.

Then, like last week, 2-on-1s.

And here comes the rudimentary, basic drill: Ball control through cones. Though, yes, how difficult the drill is is up to you. (yes there is supposed to be two 'is's there)

Ended with game time :)

report by Tania Loke
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For the two weeks of canceled training and coachless runs. Finally Coach Jason is back and training atmosphere was nothing but explosive.

With pumped up boys running with sticks in hand you don't wanna mess with them.
So after stretching and warm-ups....
We went for the regular drills.. snake, pass-shoot with a lot of energy and i mean A LOT of energy everyone went their course and shouted BALL!! it felt as though the ceiling was gonna fall down with all the vibes sent by our eager voices.

Bringing down the house with attitude is what were looking for.
Our aim? well Div 1 DUH!!!! There ain't no stopping us when we get moving. After all the drills and short thrills it was time for the KILL. I know, it all seem to rhyme i did it on purpose.

Game time was awesome since we had enough people to form two lines and put all that we've learnt to practice passing the ball, playing as A TEAM, shooting and this time goalie really had to work haha. Lotsa shots made on goal today which made the day exhaustive and explosive. All in all training was a blast. Who are we? FIREBRANDS!!! WHOAH!!!
