Saturday, February 20, 2010

there are 10 ways to dig a hole, there are 10 places to play floorball.

Let the pictures do the talking for the seniors training....

...

So as the seniors were wrapping theirs up, the ladies & juniors were slowly trickling in .

Like how you pour tomato sauce from the bottle. Slowly abit abit come out, then shake time got big blobs come, then slow down again. So it was like that. Slowly come, then one bigger bunch come, then wait somemore, then another batch comes...

Anyways training started with warm-ups, jogging around the sun-bathed court.

The model at the right of the photo is to show you what happens if we have our training here every day. The pink model is to show you that humans can fly:)

Next, Alex gave a briefing about the lines for Div 2, then next was:

Snakes. A lot of snakes live in the desert, so can tahan the sun.

Then, another drill:

The run-pass-shoot drill.

Shoot.

After that, Finland passing.

But obviously the heat was taking its toll on the ladies & juniors, the majority of them complaining about the Sun (the star (the celestial body, not the newspaper), not the newspaper).

It's like a fuse.

When you add more heat (electric current - heat comes from the resistance) to the fuse, the fuse starts to melt. Add too much heat and the fuse totally melts, breaking the circuit. Circuit break, no more current can flow.

Sooo. Just imagine.. fuse = mental; heat = heat from the sun la; circuit flow = energy during training. And maximum heat the fuse can tahan, not that high.

Anyways.

Moving on, it was game time and play was according to the lines set for Div 2.

After Finland passing and after game time.

While the three wise men conferenced..

And while Zeph was slapping balls..

=O what's that?

So an ICE-CREAM break was declared (imagine a water break but 5 times more syok)

Very good business xP

Happy faces

Grape-faced Sarah Khoo.

Wah syok.

So training ended on a cooler note, a debrief and mentions about the friendly against Ztec next Sunday (28th Feb).

On the bright side right.. although the Sun was a total killer to the spirits of most of the ladies & juniors, and the heat increasingly unbearable as training goes on..

..the over-excellent lighting totally provided such nice, in-focus photos. xP

TWO

(2, dua, ) things.
pls read, then can go back to whatever you were doing. thank you.

Firstly:

HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR
and happy collecting angpow, cuz every single fireBRAND floorballer registered under PFA.. is still eligible for angpow! (as far as we know. haha)

Pls be careful, don't lose your limbs when playing Pop Pop, try not to stuff too much; we don't want a performance drop after CNY.. xP

Number two:

Training venue for our next training this Saturday (20th Feb '10) is changed to:

the basketball court at Jalan Delima.

Our scenic picnic spot, you can see it here and here.

But still same times, DO NOT BE LATE.

Can you tell me what's wrong?

DO YOU.....

Remember those days when Malaysian's football was at the peak?
Remember those faces of the greats?
Remember Mokthar?
Remember Isa Bakar?
Remember Soh Chin Aun?

Compare the differences between then and now.....

then...

facilities: do they even have one?
field status: teruk
coach: not even FIFA qualified
PERFORMANCE: WORLD CLASS

now...

facilities: world class
field status: not that good but better
coach: most of them are FIFA qualified
PERFORMANCE: ???

What went wrong?

"world class facilities, third class mentality"

one played with heart, one played for money
heart vs money = Brazil vs Malaysia
can money ever beat heart?
easy, u just have to answer this... CAN malaysia ever beat Brazil???
well, not here to talk about money but can i just remind u guys that HEART is the engine of the game?
HEART..heart..heart...

7 attendance, 7...7...

PFL division 2 is just 5 training sessions away
what are you doing?
think.....

What a Saturday

It was a bright Saturday afternoon, clear blue skies until…

1. Schools in Penang decided to have school session to compensate for the Chinese New Year week-long holidays.

2. Yes, there’s a number 2. Traffic jam. Oh well, that’s okay, it’ll be cleared after some time.

3. NO it didn’t! Well, mostly everyone arrived at PBSM half-an-hour late.

So, we were there, Coach Jason started off training with warm-up-cum-passes due to lack of time for warm-ups. Then, we had a ‘back to basics’ session where we had to do passes against the wall. The trick is, it must be fast, flat-ball and accurate.

Then came on tactical plays! X had to pass to Z while Y had to run to the left wing. When Z gets the ball, Z passes to Y on the left wing. On the other hand, X had to go center and wait. Then, Z goes to the right side and gets ready for a pass from Y who has the option of passing to X or Z. Get it? Or confused? Well, it is at first but… you’ll get to it after one or two rounds with it.

After plays, water-break then… *drum-roll!* GAME-TIME! Wohoo! 15 minutes left on the clock… all running through our minds… PLAY PLAY PLAY. Then, we end. Awww, and there’s no training next week due to CNY and some-court-problems. However, there’s good news! fireBRANDS FC would like to welcome 4 new-Khanz players (Lye Aun, Win Keat, Win Liang and Syafiq) to the team.

With that over, here come the ladies and juniors, whose training started not-very-punctually (well that particular saturday wasn't the best for punctuality...) at 3:25p.m. or so with warm-ups outside: 5 rounds round the building.

Which was tiring, especially for those who were in school since 7:15a.m. then went home and came faithfully for training.

After warm-ups, Coach Alex first took the first 5 minutes for some basic ball control to get into the right.. feel. And build up our basics, of course.

Next, something pretty familiar by now: Finland passing.

Water-break after that.

And so now we have...

The Alex Course. (TAC - no he didn't name it, but he did come up with the drill itself; i just wanted an acronym which kinda summed it up and sounded pronounceable xP)

The same one we did during the last training.

TAC consisted of:

1. Dribble.

2. Ball control through cones.

3. Dribble.

4. Spinoff.

5. Dribble.

6. Stop and control.

7. Take a shot.

So each player had 4 rounds of TAC:

Okay, finish d, time for GAME TIME.

Two teams, 5-a-side, including a few seniors who'd stayed on since their training.

Sorry ah, i know the photos extremely blur.

Anyways.

After that, a short break in the middle for a quick debrief, since 4 players were leaving early, then GAME TIME continued.

5p.m. end.

Reminder: Next Saturday, 13th Feb 2010, NO TRAINING. So you all can go collect angpow. :)
