1. Schools in Penang decided to have school session to compensate for the Chinese New Year week-long holidays.
2. Yes, there’s a number 2. Traffic jam. Oh well, that’s okay, it’ll be cleared after some time.
3. NO it didn’t! Well, mostly everyone arrived at PBSM half-an-hour late.
So, we were there, Coach Jason started off training with warm-up-cum-passes due to lack of time for warm-ups. Then, we had a ‘back to basics’ session where we had to do passes against the wall. The trick is, it must be fast, flat-ball and accurate.
Then came on tactical plays! X had to pass to Z while Y had to run to the left wing. When Z gets the ball, Z passes to Y on the left wing. On the other hand, X had to go center and wait. Then, Z goes to the right side and gets ready for a pass from Y who has the option of passing to X or Z. Get it? Or confused? Well, it is at first but… you’ll get to it after one or two rounds with it.
After plays, water-break then… *drum-roll!* GAME-TIME! Wohoo! 15 minutes left on the clock… all running through our minds… PLAY PLAY PLAY. Then, we end. Awww, and there’s no training next week due to CNY and some-court-problems. However, there’s good news! fireBRANDS FC would like to welcome 4 new-Khanz players (Lye Aun, Win Keat, Win Liang and Syafiq) to the team.
With that over, here come the ladies and juniors, whose training started not-very-punctually (well that particular saturday wasn't the best for punctuality...) at 3:25p.m. or so with warm-ups outside: 5 rounds round the building.
Which was tiring, especially for those who were in school since 7:15a.m. then went home and came faithfully for training.
After warm-ups, Coach Alex first took the first 5 minutes for some basic ball control to get into the right.. feel. And build up our basics, of course.
Next, something pretty familiar by now: Finland passing.
Water-break after that.
And so now we have...
The Alex Course. (TAC - no he didn't name it, but he did come up with the drill itself; i just wanted an acronym which kinda summed it up and sounded pronounceable xP)
The same one we did during the last training.
TAC consisted of:
1. Dribble.
2. Ball control through cones.
3. Dribble.
4. Spinoff.
5. Dribble.
6. Stop and control.
7. Take a shot.
So each player had 4 rounds of TAC:
Okay, finish d, time for GAME TIME.
Two teams, 5-a-side, including a few seniors who'd stayed on since their training.
Sorry ah, i know the photos extremely blur.
Anyways.
After that, a short break in the middle for a quick debrief, since 4 players were leaving early, then GAME TIME continued.
5p.m. end.
Reminder: Next Saturday, 13th Feb 2010, NO TRAINING. So you all can go collect angpow. :)
